This is so wrong on so many levels. I hope that this in not a serious proposal. Classic case of either not ever having visited the site, or having visited the site only to find the physical set backs. Mr. Ashworth (original architect) would roll in his grave if he saw what you have proposed to replace one of his greatest designs. I suggest going down to the site and this time spending some time there, or maybe you have, in that case I am sorry for the future of this beautiful complex of buildings.
